Foodie: The King Louis Grill and Bar

Good morning!

It’s only 8.40am on a Saturday and yes, I AM AWAKE. Now at the office supposedly “catching up” on some work. Everyone has to work one Saturday a month, as part of our contract with the company. When my work load is crazy, the Saturdays are extremely useful, but when they’re not, I end up doing other stuff… like this.

Not that I’m not busy now, but I really don’t feel like working today. I slept at 3am last night after watching Divergent. *Yawn*

Speaking of work, someone’s got herself a pay raise!!! :D :D :D I’m not taking back a word from my previous post because the fact still remains that that is simply not a marketer’s job.

Anyway, my boyfriend and I went to The King Louis Grill and Bar at VivoCity last night. It was his second but my first time stepping into this very well-themed, meat-lovers’ restaurant.

The prices on the menu can really scare you, but if you do compare it to places like Tony Roma’s, it’s actually on par or even cheaper. Here’s the link to their menu: The King Louis Grill and Bar.

We ordered the Knight Gawain for 2-3 pax at $59.90. The portion was huge, as you can see below. But we managed to finish almost everything. I’m more of a seafood kind of girl, so putting a gigantic plate of meat in front of me is like whoa! I guess that’s why I’m anemic, which means I have a lower red blood cell count + low blood pressure.

Well, I think the meat in this has boosted my blood pressure to last me the next year. haha

King Louis Grill and Bar Vivo City Singapore Knight Gawain ($59.90): 3 grilled chicken on skewers, 3 pork chops, 3 chicken chops, 3 beef steaks, grilled veggies with butter pumpkin sauce, oven baked mini potatoes and a centre serving of salad.

They have such an extensive menu. I’m pretty certain we’ll be back to try the other dishes – not too soon, I hope. I still feel full 12 hours from last night’s feast!

Service there is better than most other restaurants in Singapore. Or maybe it’s because they charge a bomb for their food, so their monthly wage is higher and this translates to happier staff and better service? But overall a good first-time experience there.

(Oh-em-geeee! My Managing Director is here in the office today and he just walked past me from behind! I didn’t hear his footsteps! Phew, I don’t think he looked into my screen.)

Okay, I’m back.

My boyfriend and I went to watch Divergent last night. Skeptical at first cos we checked Rotten Tomatoes and the Critics’ Rating was BAD. But…but…but… I LOVED IT!

Okay, it really reminded me of Hunger Games in too many ways, but it was entertaining nonetheless. There was action, drama, humour, and a hell lot of romance. I think my boyfriend was getting a little tired of me going “awwww” during the movie. I mean, Tris and Four were so cute together. ..

Okay, there I go again.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier was sold out everywhere in Singapore. Does our nation really have that many people? Every known theatre was packed for every time slot between 6pm and 11pm. That’s A LOT of people watching that film last night. Now I feel like the entire Singapore has caught the movie except me :’(

(heehee… MD and GM have left the building!)

I’ve got to get back to work! Ciao!

Foodie: IKOI Japanese Buffet

While watching Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom at Shaw Lido on Friday night, I already found myself feeling very chilly. At first, I thought it was just the temperature in the theatre, or perhaps the large cup of iced Pepsi I had consumed. Apart from the chills, I was feeling perfectly fine.

After the movie, we cabbed back to my boyfriend’s place and I crashed immediately. I was so tired, I didn’t even get to clean off my makeup.

I think I had the best sleep in weeks. But when I woke up this morning, my throat hurt, my nose was running, my body was aching, and my temperature felt slightly higher than usual. My first thought was about how my weekend was going to be completely wasted – and you have no idea how precious my weekends are now, ever since I started work.

So I spent the afternoon resting at my my boyfriend’s home. But yay!!! I was feeling great by evening time, so my boy decided to try reserving at table at IKOI. We’ve been trying to get a table there for the longest time, but they’re always, always fully booked. This time, we were lucky. We managed to get a table at their sushi counter for their 8 – 10pm slot.

Baby, again, thank you so much. You keep insisting of lavish dinners, even though I tell you I would rather simple ones. I know you’re trying so hard to make things work. It’s not that I don’t appreciate the money you are spending on me, but like I have explained to you for the past 5 years, I’m not a girl that looks at how much money you have in your bank account or how much goes into taking care of my wants and needs.

I just want a guy who loves me enough to respect me – a guy that treasures me enough to make an effort to understand my needs as girl who has been broken one too many times before. I’m not an easy girl and I know that. My scars have left me insecure and very fragile. “High maintenance,” but in a different way.

You keep talking about wanting to spend the rest of your life with me. Maybe it’s because you feel the desperation, especially after what just happened two weeks ago. I would have said a resounding yes prior to that, but right now, I need time to heal. Give me some more time, okay?

I love you so, so much. Everything still hurts like crazy when I think about what went wrong – and I really need time to heal. When you notice me finding it hard to say those 3 words for the past couple of weeks, please try not to feel anything. It’s all part of the recovery process. I can only hope you’ll give me some more time.

You’ve hurt me, deeply. But you’ve also loved me, immensely. And for that reason alone, I’ll put in every bit of energy in trying to make us, us again.
